Insurance – Craftinsure

Have just renewed Mouflon’s insurance with Craftinsure.

They’re no nonsense, seem to get good reviews online, have a simple website which can insure you immediately, and they’re also very cheap.

Of course, I’ve never made a claim yet and that’ll be the real test, but I was impressed they covered us for the Round [...]

Quick Visit to Boat – Engine Service Today

The engineer is coming down today to service the engine, so I raced down to the boat last night to drop off the keys. It’s a 180 mile round trip which took me about 3 hours on the bike.

The boat’s still there and looking surprisingly clean – but I’ve lost a fender! No [...]

Chatham Maritime Marina

Tracie from Chatham Maritime called Magdalena this afternoon to confirm the booking – and it’s a good thing she did. Understandably, Magdalena has been nervous about the move.

We’re happy in Chichester – the only reason we’re moving is to have the boat nearer home while our little ones are so little.

Tracie spent [...]

Planning a Move to Chatham Maritime Marina

This year is looking very interesting.

We’re planning to move the boat to either Chatham Maritime Marina, or Gillingham Marina – which will be a right old trek. The idea is to sail the boat around over the Easter weekend.

I ordered the charts – paper and digital from sailgb.com, and they’re taking an [...]

Getting Ready for Winter

Decided not to take her out of the water, this year so did put a couple of heaters and a dehumidifier on board today. Bought a couple of 60cm tube heaters because that’s what the previous chap had – but was a bit worried about them moving about. So, I screwed each to a [...]

Mouflon is Still in Hamble…

We were supposed to move the boat to Chichester, this weekend. We had planned to take the boat over yesterday morning, but the weather looked really nasty and on Thursday we made the call not to go. A spring tide meant we’d have to leave for the boat at silly o’clock, and there were [...]

Fitting the Sails

Had a great day putting the sails up with Valerie.

It was just a pity I’d only had 3-4 hours sleep and was completely knackered (baby duty).

Anyhow, the sails are now up but not reefed. We had a bit of a job with the battens – seemed to involve unscrewing black plastic tensioners [...]

Launched

The boat is now in the water. Sujee was a star and finished off the painting before motoring her round to her berth. Can’t wait to get down to see her finally in the water.

Sujee’s gas expert friend has given me a quote for replacing the hoses and giving it a Corgi service. [...]

Antifoul Painted

Met up with Sujee yesterday to take a look at the result of all his hard work. He’s done a nice job – and that crack is certainly gone

I’ll not be able to go down to Hamble when they drop her into the water, and Sujee very kindly offered [...]

Radio License & First Aid

Just realised today I totally forgot to get a radio license. According to this link, it means taking a course – which is pretty much what I’d been told at Hamble School of Yachting. From memory, the rule is one person on board needs the license or you can’t use the radio – so [...]
