It didn’t start out too promising, but a rainy morning with lots of wind turned into a beautiful afternoon on a child-happy beam-reach.

Folly Inn – Cowes Yacht Haven: 2 NM Woke up with the best of intentions. We were going to head over to Yarmouth for lunch, and then back to either Cowes or even on to Gosport for the evening. But you know what? Valerie had been so keen to go to the “play park”, it seemed a shame to go off sailing. We decided to stay on the island, take it easy and do family stuff. Chichester – Folly Inn: 25 NM For the Bank Holiday weekend, we’d originally wanted to make for Lymington and then Yarmouth. In the end, we settled for something a lot more sedate. And relaxing. The plan had been to leave on Friday night and head for Lymington the next day, but the weather turned nasty. Oh – and Chris came over. And the whisky bottle opened itself.
