Back to Chichester with Terry & Co.

Gosport – Chichester: 17 NM
Year to Date: 357 NM

The way back was gentle, and the weather fine. Terry and Ashley were hooked but I’m afraid we still could not convince Katie of the benefits of nautical adventure.

Yarmouth – Cowes: 9 NM
Cowes – Chichester: 22 NM
Year to Date: 323.5 NM

Have been dying to get over to Yarmouth since we got the boat. It’s a beautiful little place – great for a day out. Stewart and I got up early (5am) to make it happen.

Round the Island

Chichester – Gosport: 17 NM
Gosport – Ocean Village: 17.5 NM
Year to Date:275.5 NM

This weekend, we’ve been out for a long weekend away with Stewart and Sandrine. Oh, and I’ve had the mad idea to enter the Round the Island race this year, on June 20th.

Overdoing It

Folly Inn – Chichester: 24 NM
Year to Date: 224 NM

We started the day with a couple of casualties. Alex woke up with a sore back; I with a sore head.

Mine was self-inflicted, or at least rum-inflicted, not helped by “hitting the roof” in the Folly Inn.

Racing for Eurovision

Chichester – Folly: 24 NM
Year to Date: 200 NM

We left Chichester Marina late Saturday afternoon.

On board were Alex, Nina and me. Alex had come along with us on our first weekend out – over the Easter break, and was back again for more of the action. Nina I had met on my final Day Skipper weekend.

For the first time, there were no kids aboard. It was well so, the forecast for serious wind – force 5-7. Chris was with her family aboard their boat in Chichester but not going out. She asked if we were serious about it. I was actually a bit sceptical myself, but both Nina and Alex were up for it, so I thought it was worth a shot. I figured the worst weather would be in the unsheltered water beyond Chichester Harbour. If it got very choppy there, I told myself, we could always head for home.

How Late is Later?

Gosport – Chichester: 17 NM
Year to Date: 176

We left Gosport at about 9am, motoring down the (now familiar) small vessels channel out from Portsmouth Harbour.

Got the sails up just before the two forts and made good headway against a F3-4 Southeasterly.

Some tacking, some watching other boats, some beautiful weather.

A Gentle Day

Chichester to Gosport: 17.5 NM
Year to Date: 159 NM

We left at around 10 this morning. The lock didn’t go too badly on the way out of Chichester Marina, but we hadn’t realised you have to get into a queue. As we approached, one of the harbourmaster chappies asked us to moor up and then call in on the radio. Bit of pfaffing about – by the time all that was through, we were nearly at free-flow (which would have been much easier). Well, we’ll know better next time.
